Any producer that needs to produce video for web,
broadcast or DVD can benefit from SpeedEDIT's clean design,
streamlined operation, and pristine output.
Growing out of NewTek's VT series of video tools,
SpeedEdit was originally created at the request of thousands
of editors who LOVED the editor included with their VT
hardware, but wanted a portable software only version. One
added feature of breaking the software off the VT platform
is that it was no longer tied to standard definition in PAL
or NTSC.

Newtek's SpeedEdit is a product that really earns
it's name. Unlike so many other computer based non-linear
editing system, SpeedEdit never makes you wait on rendering.
With the ability to edit standard, as well as hi-def video,
in PAL and NTSC, SpeedEdit easily mixes that with MPeg-2,
QuickTime, and AVI files of any resolution ALL IN THE SAME
PROJECT! It will even see a file folder filled with an image
sequence, and automatically recognize it as a clip.
SpeedEdit also outputs full screen HD in real-time, through
FireWire. All common editing functions are immediately
available while working in the SpeedEdit interface. NewTek
includes a timeline/storyboard hybrid interface, giving the
end user the best of both worlds. Setting a clips in and out
points is as simple as sliding the beginning or end of a
clips icon. Overlapping two video clips automatically
inserts a cross dissolve. Speed Edit will even auto cross
fade the audio clips! Functions like ripple edits, clip
replacement, segment repositioning and color correction are
all easily performed. The "Control Tree" tab is one of the
most compelling features of the entire system. A
comprehensive list of attributes, such as 3D position,
rotation, size, cropping, boarders, soft edges, drop
shadows, blurring, and color correction appear on this
panel. Each attribute can be tweaked in real-time with
instant on screen feedback, in full resolution. What makes
these controls particularly useful, is that each of these
attributes is independently KEYFRAMABLE. Creating your own
multi-layered Picture in Picture in Picture effects takes
mere moments, and animating text is just as easy. NewTek's
SpeedEdit also plays well with various file formats of
audio. Not only do you have the ability to edit a nearly
endless number of tracks, SpeedEdit will also load most
popular VST plugins from professional audio editing
programs.
Once you have finished your edit project you need to
output the project. SpeedEdit can output in realtime
throughout your computers Firewire port, or render into
Flash, MPEG1, MPEG2, MP3 ( audio only ) MPEG4, Quicktime,
Raw DV, AVI, or Windows Media. SpeedEdit will even output
Wave (audio only ) RTV ( NewTek's proprietary uncompressed
format) or as an image sequence. Each of these output
options all you to further tweak attributes as to
resolution, and various compression algorithms. Between
SpeedEdit's "every tool at your fingertips" interface, and
the fact that you don't have to wait on renders, NewTek has
designed the faster and easiest professional quality video
editing system on the market. Even if you are convinced
that your editor is the best, you owe it to yourself to take
a look at SpeedEdit, and see how fast a real-time editor can
be.
"While all of the products NewTek demoed at NAB
are impressive, the top product has to go to SpeedEDIT,
which according to the company is the fastest video
editor in the world. While we need to sort out the hype
from the truth, the SpeedEDIT tends to lean more to the
truth than not. OMG this thing rocks!!!"
